From the New Orleans Times-Picayune: Looting begins in New Orleans.
Looters filled industrial-sized garbage cans with clothing and jewelry and floated them down the street on bits of plywood and insulation as National Guard lumbered by.
Mike Franklin stood on the trolley tracks and watched the spectacle unfold.
"To be honest with you, people who are oppressed all their lives, man, it's an opportunity to get back at society," he said.
Two wrongs don't make a right, Mikey-boy. You live in the most open and free country in the world, your city and neighborhood are in the midst of a major tragedy, and all you can think about it "getting back at society"? There is no excuse whatsoever for this illegal and uncivilized behavior. Grow up and get a life. Or, would you prefer that the society you so despise simply shuns you? That would certainly be poetic justice! When you attempt to secure social service benefits it would be great for you to face the consequences of your worldview.
*sigh*
And the phrase that Gene Hackman's character, Lex Luthor, spouted in Superman just keeps running through my head: "...People are no damn good..."
