Because, although it is Christ sacrifice of Himself on the Cross which won our salvation and redemption, He paid a terrible, horrific price. Look at the quote from Isaiah which is currently in my header:
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
He was beaten, whipped, mocked, insulted, and bloodied beyond belief. He suffered His Father turning away from Him, unable to look upon the sin which the sinless Son had laid upon Him.
So whenever you think that you can do what you want, "so long as nobody gets hurt," I want to remind you of the Cross - and that Somebody DID get hurt because of our sin.
With God, though, there is always the possibility of a "BUT NOW" -
Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Friday is here...
BUT SUNDAY'S COMING!
