Last night's lightning show...
I actually took video - it's pretty icky, since the camera wouldn't record all the background flashes from lightning that wasn't in the frame. I wish it had, because it was almost strobe-like!
Anyway, here are two videos I took, and you'll see some pretty impressive strikes if you have the patience to sit through the dark spots. I'm considering editing them into one long-ish video, and putting the Doors' "Riders on the Storm" or maybe Rush's "Jacob's Ladder" in the background... What do you think? Should I?

We had quite a show here in Northern Virginia. But nothing as spectacular as what happened to the south and the west of us.
Even though Stafford County is quite a distance south of us, we heard what sounded like a train go through. Maybe that was a tornado?

BelovedHubby mentioned he'd heard a report that a tornado had touched down, but I think that was in our local area. No confirmation, though...
Stafford? That's where my sis-in-law used to live!

Very nice lightening shots, Kat-star! We loved seeing them after surviving and going through a very scary night here in Chatham. I guess the Gretna area was scary also!

LOL, "Kat-star"? Thanks for the compliment!
John, I'm glad that you-all weathered the storm, too. We are blessed with a very sturdy house as well as a good basement, so we were unconcerned (over-confident, maybe?) about the tornado warnings for ourselves.
I hear there was a little bridge out Chalk Level Rd. which was under water, and I know that the creek that Taylor's Mill passes over was quite full. The field off of US29 south of Chatham (on the east side) was flooded this morning, but I see it's only a bit soggy this afternoon.
I don't mind big rip-snorter storms when I have a secure house to enjoy them from. More importantly, I LOVE seeing all that power, knowing that the God who controls that power holds me and my family in His hands!
