and it looks like I'll be doing it again today. I need to reiterate my desire that he holds the line and continues to vote "NO" on this socialistic-porker-invasive "bailout" bill.
Yesterday, I saw that my bank, Wachovia (which I like very much; they have good service and wonderful people working for them) was to be bought out by Citicorp in a maneuver apparently orchestrated by the FDIC. My Mother, who's not too fond of Citi (for whatever reason), will, I hope, like this news better:
Wells Fargo one-upped rival Citigroup on Friday by unveiling a $15.1 billion deal to acquire all of Wachovia.
As my blog-brother, DJ, points out:
...Wachovia didn’t need the government or Citigroup after all (Washington Post, emphasis added) [...]
...the supposed poster-child for a banking sector
deserpately [sic]desperately [DJ fixed it - Kat, the SooperEditor, at your service! LOL] in need of government help managed to make a better deal for its stockholder without government help.
The Wells Fargo deal is far better for Wachovia, and - golly gee! - it didn't need the government "rescue/bailout" stupidity to do it. Let the free market do what it's supposed to, and don't allow the government to meddle where it's not needed - although there are some idiots out there who might say it's needed. *pfft!*
