The King of Christmas: our Redeemer

Look down from heaven and see,
from Your holy and beautiful habitation.
Where are Your zeal and Your might?
The stirring of Your inner parts and Your compassion
are held back from me.
For You are our Father,
though Abraham does not know us,
and Israel does not acknowledge us;
You, O LORD, are our Father,
our Redeemer from of old is Your name. (Isaiah 63:15-16, ESV)

Redeemer. Someone who buys us back out of slavery. A kinsman who comes to rescue and avenge us. A Savior who loves us so much that He comes to pay the debt we owe and take us home. 

Redeemer. The God who loves us when we were unlovely, hateful, rebellious sinners and pours out His grace in our souls. The God who washes us clean from every taint of sin and adopts us into His intimate family. The only God who makes final, perfect peace between Himself and man.

I know You had me on Your mind

When You climbed up on that hill

For You saw me with eternal eyes

While I was yet in sin

Every stripe upon Your battered back

Every thorn that pierced Your brow

Every nail drove deep through guiltless hands

Said that Your love knows no end

Savior come and shelter me from sin

You're familiar with my weakness

Devoted to the end

So the grace You poured upon my life

Will return to You in praise

Oh, Jesus, my great Kinsman-Redeemer! I thank You for the great love and grace You came to show us. You came so humbly! You, the great God and Creator, left Heaven and laid aside Your glory so that You could come and buy Your children out of sin and slavery. You rescued us from Your own just wrath, and transfered us to Your Kingdom of light, love and grace. I praise You, my Savior, for all the powerful kindness You have poured out upon me. Let Your light so shine through my life that You are glorified and worshiped by all who see it!
