This is Anaeho'omalu Bay, or "A-Bay" as the local folks call it, and it's one of the loveliest beaches on the island. If I recall correctly, it was "kapu," and reserved for royalty alone back in the day.
I'm planning on taking a lot of photos here in between swimming and sunning, so I hope to have some uploaded (to Facebook, at least - anyone know a good Flickr uploader compatible with Linux?) tonight.
I'm not certain that marlin is a type of tuna, but I'm pretty sure... This is a dish that's a standard in Hawaii, and it's simply delicious! Everyone has their own mix, but it always starts with the freshest of fish - uncooked. Um, well, unless it's tako poke (octopus)...
Made with basil from my very own garden! This is my very first-ever pesto, and it's very very easy - odd, though, that the recipe I used (loosely) didn't call for toasted pine nuts. I try to always toast any nuts I use in recipes because it really helps bring out their flavor.
On Wednesday night, I'm going to do grilled chicken thighs with Emeril's Southwest Seasoning (at the bottom of the Turkey and White Bean Chili recipe). The mix is very easy to make up, and it's also great to sprinkle on chicken before you roast it. I'm going to mix it with some oil and then coat the chicken thighs and marinate them for about 6-8 hours before I grill them. YUMMY!
Anyway, along with the chicken thighs, I'm going to use the pesto in this recipe for a pesto potato and green bean salad... Mmmmmm!
Oh, and I've got to take out the swordfish steaks from the freezer for tomorrow!
God bless our Marines and all our armed forces. They also fight so that some moron can also write, "Obama rocks" on my dusty car.[UPDATE, now that I'm not posting from my cellphone: Of course, I should be grateful that they only drew in the dust vs. scratching it into my paint...]
Yep. Obama rocks so much that he's quadrupled our national debt, insulted several key allies, and loves to appoint crooks and tax cheats... just to name a FEW "minor" gaffes...
After a long day with family, sometimes a glass of wine is just what you need! And the staff at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club are as wonderful and gracious as ever. Their kindness was a HUGE help a few years ago (each time) when Mom went through knee replacement surgery. So while I wait for dinner, they serve me wine and bless me with their WONDERFUL hospitality.
UPDATE: Oh, blast... It looks like Verizon and TPad aren't getting along again; my text didn't come through.
Anyway, Jimmy (registered name "Filthy Rich," if I recall correctly) is a 21 year old Saddlebred gelding, and he's my darling! We get along very well, and my friend Lisa calls him the "Barbie horse" because he's so pretty.
If I had a zillion dollars, I would SO buy Jimmers and board him with Maggie, our trainer. Then, when it was time to retire, I would bring Jimmy to my house and a nice, lush pasture with a buddy or two to be spoiled until he went over the Rainbow Bridge.
Maggie takes excellent care of her horses, even though it makes life financially difficult. But, because she takes such good care of them, her vet bills are very low, and - as you can see - her horses are healthy and active well into their golden years.
It's a mystery to me, since I've been coaching in other areas... But the kids use the Lego Mindstorm software to program the robot to do pretty amazing things. Of course, it can't solve a Rubik's cube (search for NXT and Rubiks on YouTube - THAT'S cool!), but there is a solid and precise depth of programming possible.
We've come through the insanity that is the bus shuttle, and are now eating. At 230p, we have teamwork judging, followed by the skit presentation. After we're done, the girls want to go shopping [headdesk]. We STILL need to finish their shirts for tomorrow, and assemble the spirit stick their Coach (my Best Beloved) will be carrying. Oh, and Scream Team Survival Kits have been quite popular! BWAHAHAHAHA! They remember us from last year!
